Agents and the API

Use Dealtab from your AI assistant

Connect ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, Cursor or any tool that speaks MCP to your Dealtab account. Then ask what’s due, who’s late paying, or tell it to add a deal, without opening the app. It works on the same board, calendar and invoices you see in Dealtab.

MCP server URL
https://dealtab.app/mcp

What it does

Dealtab runs an MCP server, the standard way AI assistants plug into other apps. Your assistant gets a set of tools for your deals, deadlines and invoices, and it decides when to use them based on what you ask.

  • Ask. “What’s due this week?” “Who owes me money, and who’s late?” Answers come from your real deals and invoices.
  • Update. Add a deal from a brand’s email, add deliverables and usage rights, move a deal to the next stage, create an invoice, mark it sent or paid.
  • Chase. Draft a polite chase for a late invoice. You read it first, and it only goes if you say so (and only if you’ve allowed sending).

Dealtab doesn’t run an AI model. Your assistant does the thinking; Dealtab answers its requests, checks them, and keeps a record.

Set it up in about a minute

  1. In Dealtab, open Settings › Agents and copy your MCP server URL.
  2. If your assistant asks for a key (Cursor, Claude Code and scripts always do), create one there. Give it the assistant’s name and pick what it can do. The key is shown once.
  3. Follow the steps for your assistant below. Menus change, so if a name doesn’t match, look for Connectors or MCP in the assistant’s settings.

ChatGPT

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web and go to Settings. Look for Connectors (some plans call it Apps) and turn on Developer mode in the advanced settings. Menus move around; if you can’t find it, search ChatGPT’s help for “developer mode”.
  2. Create a connector, name it Dealtab, and paste your server URL.
    Server URL
    https://dealtab.app/mcp
  3. Finish the sign-in ChatGPT asks for. If it offers OAuth, choose it and sign in to Dealtab; you won’t need a key. If it asks for an API key or bearer token, paste your key.
  4. In a new chat, switch Dealtab on for that chat (look in the + or tools menu), then ask “What’s due this week?”

ChatGPT needs Business, Enterprise or Edu to add or change deals (Pro can read). ChatGPT asks you to confirm before it runs anything that changes your data, and Dealtab still shows you any email to a brand before it goes. (Plans as of Oct 15, 2026.)

Claude

  1. In Claude (web or desktop), open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector. On Team and Enterprise plans an owner may have to add it for the organization first.
  2. Paste your server URL and add the connector.
    Server URL
    https://dealtab.app/mcp
  3. Click Connect and sign in to Dealtab. Claude’s form asks for a URL and, optionally, OAuth details; if there’s no place for a key, that’s expected.
  4. In a chat, check that Dealtab is switched on in the tools menu, then ask “Who owes me money right now?”

Claude works on every plan (Free: one custom connector). Plans change; Anthropic’s help page has the current rules. (Plans as of Oct 15, 2026.)

Grok

  1. Go to grok.com/connectors, choose New connector, then Custom.
  2. Paste your server URL.
    Server URL
    https://dealtab.app/mcp
  3. Finish the sign-in Grok asks for. If it offers OAuth, choose it and sign in to Dealtab; you won’t need a key. If it asks for an API key or bearer token, paste your key.
  4. Ask Grok “What’s due in the next 7 days?”

Grok connects from xAI’s servers, so the URL has to be public. Grok needs a Business or Enterprise workspace. (Plans as of Oct 15, 2026.)

Cursor and Claude Code

  1. Cursor: add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (every project) or .cursor/mcp.json (one project), then check that Dealtab shows up in Cursor’s MCP settings.
    mcp.json
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "dealtab": {
          "url": "https://dealtab.app/mcp",
          "headers": {
            "Authorization": "Bearer <your key>"
          }
        }
      }
    }
  2. Claude Code: run this once in a terminal. Add --scope user after dealtab to use it in every project.
    Terminal
    claude mcp add --transport http dealtab https://dealtab.app/mcp \
      --header "Authorization: Bearer <your key>"
  3. Keep the key out of files you commit. If it ever leaks, revoke it in Settings › Agents and make a new one.

Any other tool (REST)

  1. Call the REST API at https://dealtab.app/api/v1 with your key as a bearer token. For example, to list your deals:
    Terminal
    curl https://dealtab.app/api/v1/deals \
      -H "Authorization: Bearer <your key>"
  2. The OpenAPI document describes every endpoint, so tools that import OpenAPI can set themselves up from it.
    OpenAPI
    https://dealtab.app/api/v1/openapi.json
  3. Each response has a one-line summary you can show as-is, plus the data.

Tools

20 tools in three groups. Over MCP, a key only sees the tools its scopes allow, so a Read-only key shows your assistant the 8 Read tools and nothing else. Money goes in as you’d type it (“2,000” plus a currency) and dates as YYYY-MM-DD; your assistant handles the conversion.

preview_chase_email
Draft the polite chase for a sent or overdue invoice and show it to you. Nothing is sent.
send_chase_email
Send a chase you’ve seen and confirmed. Needs the preview’s confirmation token (valid 10 minutes).

Example prompts

  • “What’s due in the next 7 days?”

    Reads your deliverables, invoice due dates and rights end dates.

  • “Which brands owe me money right now, and who’s late?”

    Reads your invoices and totals. Nothing changes.

  • “Add a deal with Juniper Tea: $2,000 for one reel due Nov 4, net 30.”

    Adds the deal to Lead on your board, with the reel as a deliverable. Needs the Write scope.

  • “Move Atlas Running to Invoiced and create the invoice.”

    Moves the deal and makes an invoice with the due date from your terms. Needs Write.

  • “Cedar & Salt’s invoice is overdue. Draft a polite chase and show it to me before sending.”

    Previews the email for you to read. It only sends after you say yes. Needs Send.

Safety

  • Scopes decide what a key can do.

    Read sees your deals, deadlines and money. Write adds and updates deals, deliverables and invoices. Send emails brands. New keys start with Read and Write; Send is off until you tick it.

  • Chase emails are always previewed and confirmed.

    Sending takes two steps. The assistant first asks for a preview, which returns the draft and a one-time confirmation code that lasts 10 minutes. It can only send with that code, after showing you the draft. The code is used up the moment a send starts, so two sends with one code mean one email. There is no way to email a brand in a single call.

  • Every change is on the record.

    Anything an assistant changes shows in the deal’s timeline with the key it used, for example “via ChatGPT”, so you can tell its edits from yours.

  • Revoke any time.

    Settings › Agents lists every key with when it was last used. Revoke one and it stops working on the next request. Dealtab stores only a fingerprint of each key, which is why it’s shown once.

  • Limits and your plan still apply.

    Each key gets 120 requests a minute (refused ones count too), and assistants can send 20 brand emails a day. If your trial ends, reads keep working and changes stop until you pick a plan.

REST API and OpenAPI

The same tools are plain HTTP endpoints under https://dealtab.app/api/v1, for scripts, automations and tools that don’t speak MCP. Send your key as a bearer token.

List your deals
curl https://dealtab.app/api/v1/deals \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer <your key>"

The OpenAPI 3.1 document lists every endpoint with its inputs: dealtab.app/api/v1/openapi.json. Responses include a one-line summary you can show as-is, plus the data.

400
The request body isn’t a JSON object.
401
No key, or the key was revoked.
403
The key lacks the scope for this tool, or the trial has ended (writes only). Checked before the input.
404
That deal, invoice or deliverable isn’t in your account, or there’s no such endpoint.
405
The endpoint exists but not with that method. The Allow header lists the right ones.
409
The change conflicts with the record’s current state.
422
The input didn’t check out. The message names the field.
429
Too many requests from this key, or the day’s 20 brand emails are used. Retry-After says how long to wait.

FAQ

Does it work with free ChatGPT, Claude or Grok?

Claude works on every plan (Free: one custom connector). ChatGPT needs Business, Enterprise or Edu to add or change deals (Pro can read). Grok needs a Business or Enterprise workspace. (Plans as of Oct 15, 2026; they change often, so check OpenAI (opens in a new tab), Anthropic (opens in a new tab) or xAI (opens in a new tab) for the current rules.) Cursor, Claude Code and the REST API work with a key on any plan.

Can I run the server locally?

No. Dealtab’s MCP server is hosted at your Dealtab address; there’s nothing to install, and there’s no local (stdio) version. Assistants connect to it over the internet.

Which AI model does Dealtab use?

None. Dealtab never calls a model. Your assistant uses its own model and calls Dealtab’s tools; Dealtab checks each request against your key and runs it.

Can my assistant email a brand without asking?

No. Sending needs the Send scope, which is off by default, and a preview first. See Safety.

Who sees my data?

Dealtab only answers your assistant’s requests. Whatever the assistant reads, such as deal names and amounts, goes to its provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI, Cursor) under their terms, the same as anything else you paste into a chat.

Can I connect more than one assistant?

Yes. Make one key per assistant or device so you can revoke one without touching the others. You can have up to 10 active keys.
